Seven Penny Meadows

Whether you have lost a loved one or you are progressing your own burial arrangements Seven Penny Meadows is a natural, greenfield, burial ground offering an alternative form of burial in which the graves will remain forever in a meadow under a canopy of natural broadleaf trees.

Most people believe that someone can only be cremated, or buried in a traditional cemetery. But now, at Seven Penny Meadows, it is also possible to be buried in a natural burial ground, where interment occurs in a way that is beneficial to the environment.

Seven Penny Meadows is set in the village of Medomsley in County Durham. The four acre meadow occupies a commanding site, situated on the high ground overlooking the Derwent Valley, about twelve miles west from Newcastle and two miles north from Consett.
